JP Next Framework Report Public Meeting

Jefferson Parish is undertaking a comprehensive update of its development regulations to create a Unified Development Code (UDC) that better reflects Parish policies, existing development patterns, community priorities, and modern regulatory practices. This project, known as JP NEXT, will consolidate and modernize the Parish’s existing zoning and development regulations, particularly Chapters 33 and 40, while addressing regulatory gaps, inconsistencies, outdated provisions, and emerging development issues.

The second meeting will be held on Wednesday, September 30, 2026 from 5:00 - 7:00 pm in the Council Chambers on the 2nd Floor of the General Government Building, located at 200 Derbigny St., Gretna, LA 70053.

The Framework Report presents the findings of a technical review of Jefferson Parish’s development regulations performed by Camiros. The Report is intended to establish an overall framework and direction for modernization of the code rather than identify specific revisions. The concepts and approaches discussed throughout the Report are intended to guide future drafting and discussion and should not be viewed as final code language or exhaustive recommendations. As the project advances into the drafting phase, specific standards, district structures, and regulatory approaches will continue to evolve based on additional analysis.

As part of the public meeting, there will be a presentation on the Framework Report. The Framework Report will be available ahead of the meetings on the project website, www.jpudc.com, by September 17th. Members of the Planning Department Staff and the Consultant will field questions from the public following the presentation. After the meeting, the presentation will be available on the project website. The public is encouraged to leave comments on the project website.
